The Fire and Rescue Department was established on 1/1/2012 to be the department concerned with everything related to fire, rescue and water rescue services in the Public Security Directorate/Civil Defense, by following up the basic pillars of this type of service, represented by (the human resources working in this field) and the categories (fire, rescue, water rescue) and the equipment for fire, rescue and water rescue operations and the vehicles specific to these three categories) as done by following:
The Fire and Rescue Department provides follow-up the training and qualification of civil defense personnel who are in the categories (fire, rescue, water rescue), where the Fire and Rescue Department, in partnership with the Training Division, develops the annual training plan for the courses and works on updating the curricula and training programs and evaluating and classifying civil defense trainers, and curricula that have been updated and approved, the Fire and Rescue Department holds many workshops in the field directorates’ personnel to develop their skills and raise their efficiency.
Vehicles of all types and kinds are among the most important elements of readiness in the Civil Defense Directorate, as they are the means that act as a carrier of equipment and manpower to the incidemt site and according to their type, as there are several types of Vehicles operating in the Civil Defense and the equipment for firefighting, rescue and water rescue, they represent the support firefighter and rescuer that used while dealing with various types in the fastest time with the least effort and high professionalism, regardless of the data of the incident.
The Fire and Rescue Department, through the Director of the Department and the heads of the divisions, also participate in the committees related to firefighting, rescue and water rescue, which aim to evaluate, update and develop firefighting and rescue in the Civil Defense, in addition to determining the necessary needs for firefighting and rescue mechanisms and equipment in general.
One of the important aspects that the Fire and Rescue Department pays attention to is research and study of everything new in the world of firefighting and rescue equipment and machinery materials as well.
The Fire and Rescue Department participates through technical officers and specialists in the committee preparing the main technical specifications for civil defense equipment or developing existing equipment for the purpose of updating it in line with the technological development of this type of technology.
The Fire and Rescue Department is also a key partner in the purchase and receipt of fire and rescue materials and equipment by involving its experienced and specialized personnel in the committees for purchasing and receiving fire and rescue materials and equipment.
