With the arrival of His Majesty the Founding King, the late Abdullah I Ibn Al-Hussein, to Ma’an on the tenth of April 1921, he formed a force to maintain security, consisting of: ((the Camel Force, the Gendarmerie Force, the Cavalry Battalion, and the Regular Battalion)).
In 1923, these forces were joined and called the Arab Army.
In 1930 A.D., the Royal Decree of His Majesty the late King Abdullah I Ibn Al-Hussein was issued to form the Jordan Badia Force. It was officially celebrated in 1931 A.D. and remained followed to the Arab Army.
In 1986, a number of companies were formed to guard the borders which were named the Badia Command and the Border Guard instead of the Badia Police Directorate.
In 1997, the Royal decree was issued to separate these companies from the Badia Command, as they were followed to the Jordan Armed Forces. The Badia was named after: The Royal Badia Forces Command.
In the year 2005, His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein inaugurated the building of the Royal Badia Police Command in the Mqableen area. The command included the tribes Affairs Advisory Office, which reports directly to the Royal Court.
On January 1, 2017, the command of the Royal Badia Forces was restructured and its performance developed to become the Security Command of the Royal Badia Region, and it has three police directorates (Northern, Central, and Southern).
On 27/6/2018, the Royal Badia Region Security Command was renamed to the Royal Badia Police Command.
One of the duties of the Royal Desert Forces Command is to issue instructions and orders that ensure the implementation of the strategic goals, instructions and orders issued by the Public Security Directorate, supervise and follow up the provision of special police and security agencies to deliver service to recipients, make the best use of available human and material resources, and guide and supervise all attached public security units. In addition to coordinating and supervising work with formations and other official bodies.
