Aqaba Governorate Police Directorate
In 1975, Aqaba Police Directorate was established under category (C) and upgraded to category (B) in 2003.
In 2005, Aqaba Region Security Command was established and Aqaba Police Directorate is attached to it and upgraded to category (A) in 2008.
On 27/6/2018, following the restructuring of the Public Security Directorate, Aqaba Region Security Command was developed and Aqaba Police Directorate was followed to the Southern Region Security Command. Four police stations are established, namely:
- City police station.
- North Aqaba police stations including Al-Muzaffar Customs Police Station.
- Al-Mugrah Police Station.
- Al-Quweira police station.
- Wadi Araba police station
- Rahma Police Station.
- Bir Mathkour police station.
- Quraigra police station.
Among the duties of the Aqaba Governorate Police Directorate are the implementation of all orders and instructions issued by the Regional Security Command, the provision of distinguished police services to service recipients, the development of police and security action plans from which executive plans for prevention and combating crime emerge, the periodic evaluation of the police and security action plans and the necessary amendments in their regard, Strengthening the system of knowledge, communication, creativity and innovation in individual and institutional work, optimal use of available human and material resources, guidance and supervision of all affiliated and attached Public Security units, strengthening partnership and cooperation with security agencies and official institutions, and maintaining communication, cooperation and social responsibility roles with service recipients and the local community.
