Fraudulent links targeting data theft and electronic fraud when accessing them
Anti-Cyber Crime Unit renewed its previous warnings against interacting with fraudulent links that are being circulated or received on citizens' phones via social networking sites, claiming that they are links to official government institutions that provide financial support to citizens.
The unit indicated that when accessing these links, personal information such as phone number, number of family members, bank account numbers and financial portfolios are requested to be filled in, and personal documents are requested to be downloaded, but this data is exploited for purposes of financial fraud in addition to hacking data and information. Personal victims and the theft of their financial portfolios and passwords to their bank accounts, or their accounts on social networking sites, and official personal documents may be used against other victims, which makes them subject to legal accountability.
The unit called on everyone not to enter, trade or deal with such links, and warned against sending any personal information or data to unknown sites, indicating that the electronic services provided by government agencies have become known to everyone and are shown on their official websites, and do not require such information.
