Amman, May 8 (Amen FM) - Civil defense paramedics in eastern Amman responded immediately and professionally to assistance from the family of a woman who was surprised by labor pains inside her private vehicle after she got stuck on one of the streets of the capital during the morning traffic rush.

Paramedic Mohammad Bani Muhammad said that after the 911 emergency phone received an emergency call from a citizen who showed signs of giving birth inside their private vehicle heading to the hospital, the operations officer on duty passed information of the case to  two ambulances close to vehicle’s location on Istiklal Street, one of which from the civil defense operations group in eastern Amman and the second from the civil defense of central Amman.

Civil defense Paramedic added that the ambulance cadres inside the civil defense vehicle immediately communicated with the citizens’ families to give them some directions and first aid until they dispatched the site, noting that because of the morning traffic jam, he and his paramedics got out of the ambulance, carrying (birth kits) with them, for a distance of more than 150 meters to reach vehicle, and upon their arrival, the birth operation had to be performed inside the private vehicle.

the case was immediately dealt with and the birth was completed after taking all medical and humanitarian measures. The case was transferred to the delivery room location by the vehicle using some medical supplies as it was parked at one of the intersections on Istiklal Street, which coincided with the arrival of the Civil Defense vehicle.

Paramedic Bani Mohammad explained that as soon as the child born, it was found that he was in a bad condition, lacking breathing and pulse, and lacking all vital signs. The new born baby was quickly transferred by the ambulance, and two CPR sessions were performed , the baby’s pulse and breathing returned, and then he and his mother were transferred to the nearest hospital, where they were delivered to the hospital.

For its part, the child’s family expressed their deep thanks and gratitude to the paramedics for the professionalism and humanity of the civil defense cadres, who made great efforts to save the lives of mother and her baby, “Timur,” whose arrival they had been waiting for two years, “the first new born baby.”
