The Director of Public Security, Major General AbeidAllah Maaitah, said that the police work and civil protection system operates according to a comprehensive strategy from which all plans, programs and operational goals form, in which all these elements were developed according to requirements and needs, and came to be in harmony with the state's general policies, which are reviewed and developed according to security data and the requirements of society.
Major General Al Maaitah stressed during a lecture that he delivered today at the Royal Command and Staff College entitled (Public Security Strategy in Preserving the Security and Safety of Jordanian Society) that Public Security Directorate is one of the national institutions that work in harmony and partnership with the rest of the state institutions, led by the Jordan Armed Forces - the Arab Army and the Department of General Intelligence and various ministries and other official institutions to achieve the main goal of protecting the supreme national interests, achieving security, peace and social stability, protecting society and providing the optimal services.
PSD director added that the Royal visions and directives are our guide in work, and we always seek to achieve and translate these visions into a reality touched by citizens through the development and modernization of service systems.
Major General AbeidAllah Maaitah stressed the importance of confronting crime and prosecuting the perpetrators, raising awareness of its dangers and limiting its negative effects on society, indicating that we are in a daily fight with drug dealers and we continue our work to strike their hideouts.
The Director of Public Security indicated that improving the traffic reality is a goal for which we have developed plans and strategies that we have begun to implement in order to overcome the challenges in this field, through comprehensive implementation and awareness dimensions according to a participatory approach with the relevant ministries and institutions.
The Director of Public Security confirmed that the civil protection system has a major and important part within our strategy, and we are constantly working to develop it and provide it with trained and qualified manpower and the latest equipment and modern technologies, in a way that enables the Civil Defense Directorate to carry out the duties with efficiency and competence, in a manner that enhances the speed of response to emergency incidents and direct dealing with them.
The Director of Public Security referred to the concept of comprehensive security and its repercussions on all aspects of life, and in various political, economic, security, environmental, social and national development fields, which aim to provide a safe environment for citizens and residents, and to preserve the security and stability of the homeland.
Major General Al-Maaitah stated that Public Security Directorate was in the first level among countries in establishing units specialized in providing various security and humanitarian services, including the Family Protection Department, the Juvenile Police, the Royal Department for Environment Protection, and specialized units in electronic crimes, intellectual property, and human trafficking, which are units that keep pace with the development of society and its needs.
The Director of Public Security affirmed that the citizen is partner in sustaining security, and that we are proceeding with confidence to consolidate this partnership through the concepts of community policing, active citizenship, and professional and responsible security media.
At the end of the lecture, which was attended by the Commander of the Command and Staff College, Brigadier General Dhaher Miqdadi and a number of members of the training staff, the Director of Public Security answered the questions and inquiries of the participants in the Joint (63) Command and Staff Course 27, which includes participants from brotherly and friendly countries.
