His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, today, Sunday, on video communication technology from the Operations and Control Building of the Public Security Directorate, observed the “Sawaed Al-Nashama” exercise, which was implemented by the Civil Defense Directorate.

His Majesty the King, in the presence of Public Security Director, Major General Dr. AbeidAllah Maaitah, praised the outstanding performance and high professionalism of the participants in the exercise.

His Majesty expressed his pride in Public Security personnel and his appreciation for their efforts to preserve the security and safety of citizens and serve them.

His Majesty the King was briefed  by the Director of the Civil Defense Directorate on the course of the exercise, which was characterized by the comprehensiveness of the simulation for different operational sectors and large geographical areas of the regions and the Dead Sea. The participants showed speed in response and readiness in preparation and application, as well as efficient coordination and communication between the implementing units from the Directorate of Civil Defense, and the supporting bodies from the Public Security units and formations, in cooperation and coordination with units from the Jordan Armed Forces - the Arab Army, and governmental and national agencies.

The exercise participants dealt with scenarios simulating the natural risks resulting from climate change, including rescue and evacuation operations of stranded people from valleys and rocky sections with rugged and steep terrain, using trained teams and specialized machinery and equipment.

The exercise witnessed the use of advanced technologies that were recently introduced to service to enhance civil protection systems and protocols at the Civil Defense.

The participants of the exercise used modern drones equipped with search devices for missing persons, and the ScubaJet Pro (torpedo) device used by civil defense divers to search for missing persons in water bodies, with the activation of underwater communication technology, in addition to the remote medical guidance service to provide ambulance services.

For his part, Major General Al-Maaitah stressed that Public Security Directorate continues to develop and modernize the systems, equipment and vehicles in civil defense, and to enhance the capabilities of theman power, to ensure the provision of the best civil protection services, in order to preserve the security and safety of citizens and residents.
