Public Security renews its warning to drivers against those committed fake traffic accidents and confirms that following legal procedures is the way to avoid these fraudulent methods.

When a traffic accident occurs, you must directly call the unified emergency number (911) and make the necessary actions.

Do not comply with anyone who asks for sums of money for the high expense issuing traffic sketch scheme as compensation.

Even if there is a settlement, it is better to document the accidents to preserve the rights

PSD spokesman renewed the warning to all drivers against falling victim to doers of traffic accidents of all kinds (run over), which can be avoided by following the applicable legal procedures.

The spokesman confirmed that despite the arrest of many suspects and taking of legal measures against them, complaints continue to be recorded from time to time regarding it.

In order to avoid being exposed to this type of crimes, citizens should follow the legal procedures stipulated by the law in the event that they are involved in any traffic accident, and to report a complaint in the event of suspicion that the accident was fabricated, so that it can be investigated by criminal and traffic investigators specialized in the Criminal Investigation Department, the Traffic Department, and the police station. Those who have sufficient competence and experience to determine whether the accident was premeditated or not, in addition to the existence of a database about the perpetrators of traffic accidents who have been previously arrested, stressing the need not to accept anyone who asks for sums of money.

The spokesman explained the procedures that must be followed when a traffic accident occurs, which is to directly call the unified emergency number (911), report the accident, and wait for the traffic investigation officer to make sketch scheme of the accident. The spokesman indicated that the law amending the Penal Code of 2023 increased the penalty for fabricating traffic accidents, as Article 26/A/3 stipulates that anyone who claims the occurrence of a traffic accident and is proven by a judicial ruling to be fabricated or intentional shall be fined (500) dinars.

The legal action :-

The penalty shall be imprisonment for a period of not less than three months and not to exceed six months, or a fine of not less than (500) dinars and not more than (1,000) dinars, or both penalties, and the penalty shall be doubled in the event of repetition.

In cases of extortion to gain an illegal benefit, if the alleged matter relates to a traffic accident, the penalty is two years imprisonment and a fine of 50 dinars.
