Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate participated in the meeting of the Global Refugee Forum via video conference, which included senior officials in the forum, in order to assess the progress in the international contributions that have been committed towards the host countries and their compatibility with the achievements made by these host countries in providing the necessary protection for refugees.

The Director  of Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate, Brig. Tariq Hossam Azer, spoke about the extent to which the international community adheres to implementing the contributions towards the host countries, and the mechanism used to transfer aid into projects and activities that serve refugees and host communities, and the importance of converting part of this aid into productive projects.

Brig. Azer added that Jordan carried  a great burden as a result of the economic, social and security refugee crisis, despite the scarcity of capabilities, and the pressures resulted in all sectors of health, education, energy and water, but despite that, Jordan  played the humanitarian role towards the refugees, especially in providing Corona vaccines.

The meeting also included talking about a number of issues related to asylum, such as the repercussions and negatives that resulted from the refugee crisis and how Jordan responded to the four goals of the Global Refugee Compact represented in alleviating pressures on host communities, enhancing the self-reliance capacity of refugees.

It is noteworthy that the first meeting of the First Global Refugee Forum was in the Swiss city of Geneva in 2019, and the forum has since been able to mobilize the international community to show solidarity with refugees around the world and the countries and communities that host it.
