About the unit 

Proceeding from the strategic orientation of the Public Security Directorate regarding the importance of specialized training for the personnel  of PSD and in order to achieve the noble humanitarian duties represented in maintaining the security and stability of the homeland and combating terrorism, the Explosives Handling Unit was established at the special branch  on 1/11/2007, and based on the view of intelligence work and  technical work needs for skill, in the field of the work, the unit provides the workers  and departments of the special branch  with trained and qualified experts with high efficiency and effectiveness.

This unit is considered the main provider external departments of experts and technical devices and is responsible for its maintenance following up on the various developments that may occur according to scientific developments and in turn lead to the development of the efficiency of the security and technical work of the personnel working in this field.

 It also undertakes the process of technical investigations related to incidents of explosives and dangerous materials, in addition to technical training operations in these areas, depending on providing participants with the necessary knowledge and skills that are consistent with the training needs and changes on the local and international scene.

The unit unifies efforts and puts them in a scientific framework by identifying the training needs of employees and preparing training programs and curricula in this field and providing feedback to the training process.
