The Royal Police Academy has given attention to teaching foreign languages to public security personnel, whether through the language trainers working in the institute, or by attracting competent teachers specializing in foreign languages, as this duty was assigned to the Language Education Department (formerly) at the Royal Police Academy.
On 1 /5 / 2007, the Language Education Department was separated from the organizational structure of the Royal Police Academy to be followed with King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein Training City under the name “Language and Computer Training Institute.”
On 15 / 11 / 2018, as a result of the administrative restructuring process carried out at the Public Security Directorate, the Language and Computer Training Institute was restructured. On 6/5/2020, after merger process of Civil Defense and Gendarmerie Forces into the Public Security Directorate, the “Language Institute” was created within the organizational structure of the Royal Police Academy, which included the Language Institute that was established in Gendarmerie Forces and the Language Institute established also in the General Directorate of Civil Defense before they were merged into the Public Security Directorate. The institute was provided with a staff of experienced specialists who previously worked at the Language Institute
On 21 /03/ 2024, the human resources structure of the Royal Police Academy was amended, the “Translation Branch” was created within the organizational structure of the Language Institute supported with qualified human power specialized in the field of translation. A special library was allocated in the branch, including a number of references and dictionaries specialized in foreign languages, so that the Language Institute became the official body for translation in the Public Security Directorate.
The Language Institute, as one of the components of Royal Police Academy, undertakes the duty of holding a set of specialized and exceptional courses in foreign languages at all levels, which are covered by the specialized and qualified training staff working at the Language Institute, in addition to carrying out the duties of written and oral translation from and to the Arabic language in addition to holding E-exams of various types and levels in the foreign languages taught at the Institute.
