The Security Strategic Studies Department was established as an independent center on 2/9/2006 and it was connected to the Deputy Director of Security.
The center was followed to the Royal Police Academy on 23/2/2009.
It was decided to be separated from the Royal Police Academy and followed to the Assistant for Operations and Training on 13/09/2009.
In 2015, the center was followed to the Office of the Inspector General.
In 2017 it was followed as a department at the Royal Police Academy.
On May 17, 2020, it was formed as the Center for Security Strategic Studies at the Royal Police Academy.
On 17/10/2020, it was decided to be separated from the Royal Police Academy to become an independent unit.
In 2022, the name of the center was changed to "the Department of Security Strategic Studies".
The vacancy of the director of the Security Strategic Studies Department was raised to the rank of brigadier general in July 2023.
