Duties of the Royal Department of Environmental Protection
Contribute to the implementation of national strategies and plans related to environmental protection in the Kingdom, in cooperation and coordination with all concerned parties.
Enforce the Environment Protection Law and all legislations related to the environment and participating in the development of these legislations.
Highlighting the concept of environmental security and applying institutional development standards in environmental police work.
Assisting the competent authorities in monitoring and controlling violations that constitute a violation of the elements of the environment (water, air, soil, biodiversity, etc.), and providing the necessary protection for employees of ministries and government departments concerned with protecting the environment and nature while performing their duties.
Implementing the decisions of the competent ministries in cases that pose a threat to the environment or in emergency cases by removing environmental violations or precautionary closure of the places specified in those decisions and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Preparing environmental awareness programs and participating in their implementation to enhance the level of environmental awareness for all segments of society, in cooperation with partners and various media.
Conducting a technical examination of vehicle exhausts to ensure that they comply with environmental requirements.
Assisting in monitoring the manufacture, storage and circulation of unlicensed chemicals, following up and controlling them to comply with the legal requirements.
Enhancing the system of knowledge, communication, creativity and innovation in institutional work.
Enhancing and activating cooperation and coordination with service partners.
